Dr. Mark Holterman Knows his Medicine

They say the best advice to take in finding professional and personal achievement is to follow your bliss. Dr. Mark Holterman shines as a perfect example of making dreams and ambitions a reality. And, because every story is unique, the details of how he makes his dreams come true deserve a close look.

The timeline reads something like one good thing after another, even though there is a slightly chilling point of saintly resolution and revelation involved. Dr. Holtermann’s tale of success has its origins the United States. More specifically, his hometown is located in Wisconsin where he grew up on a farm (https://www.osfhealthcare.org/physicians/profile/2358/mark-j-holterman-md-phd/). Although his parents did not have a college education, the life and home they provide to their son enables him to excel at his studies in high school. This opens the door to his scholastic achievements at Yale University majoring in biology. Yale gives ways to the University of Virginia where he trains to become a pediatrician while at the same time engaging in the National Institutes of Health program, which molds students into full-fledged medical scientists.

Just as with all his other studies before, Dr. Holterman completes these courses to move onto bigger and better things. More specifically, he moves on to be surgery resident at University of Virginia Health Sciences Center. After that, his service leads him to the University of Washington Children’s Hospital and Medical Center. And, there is a short period of two years with the Clinical Institute of Montreal where he performs as a research associate.

All of these years spent learning and working in the medical field are the stepping stones for the myriad of medical responsibilities that make him the Ph.D. that people know him to be today (AliveNewspaper). Naturally, it is no surprise that he leads in more than one capacity with the Children’s Hospital of Illinois, St. Francis Center, Advocate Christ Children’s Hospital and the University of Illinois hospital. Of course, some of his best contributions are to the International Pediatric Specialists Alliance for the Children of Vietnam (IPSAC-VN) where the art of saving lives takes on extra special meaning because these patients are vulnerable due to their economic situations.
